I discovered the profound impact of technology on art shows when I hosted my first virtual event during the COVID-19 pandemic. At that time, diving into a virtual format felt like navigating uncharted waters, and the steep learning curve in technology was daunting. However, what began as a challenge soon turned into a remarkable opportunity.

With virtual art shows, I’ve been able to extend beyond the typical weekend event, keeping my shows accessible online for a whole month. This flexibility allows people to engage with art at their own pace, offering a level of inclusivity that physical events often can’t match. For those who can’t attend in person—like older adults or individuals with disabilities—this virtual approach removes physical barriers and makes art accessible and engaging in a way that’s comfortable for everyone.

Technology has also broadened my reach, enabling my work to connect with people around the world. This global audience has not only helped me share my art but also fostered important conversations about disability on an international stage. The ability to make a difference on such a scale has been both humbling and inspiring.

From the start, I envisioned using the intersection of art and technology to drive meaningful social change through Art for a Cause. To build a solid foundation, I immersed myself in STEM coursework throughout high school, mastering skills in Python, Java, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS. Platforms like MIT, Khan Academy, and code.org were instrumental in sharpening my technical abilities, which I applied to real-world projects, including robotics and virtual events.

Programs like the Robotics FOCUS Program by BAE Systems and the UT Austin Academy for Women in Computer Science enriched my journey, enhancing my leadership skills and deepening my technological expertise. These experiences were crucial in helping me adapt and thrive, especially during challenging times like the pandemic.

Ultimately, my journey highlights the transformative power of blending technology with creative expression. As I continue to explore this evolving landscape, my commitment remains unwavering: to use these tools for positive change and inspire others to do the same.
