Robotics

The influence of robotics on Shreya’s Atelier’s Art for a Cause has been both foundational and transformative. The critical thinking, problem-solving, and leadership skills I’ve developed through years of robotics have directly shaped how I approach everything from designing websites to organizing exhibitions and fundraising campaigns. Robotics has taught me to think systematically, collaborate effectively, and persevere through complex challenges—skills that have helped me build Art for a Cause into a platform that merges creativity with social impact. Whether I’m coding an interactive website, planning logistics for an art show, or strategizing how to engage the community, I draw upon the mindset and discipline instilled in me through robotics.

My journey in robotics began in 6th grade, and since then, it has grown into a deep passion that has defined much of my academic and extracurricular life. I started with FIRST Lego League (FLL) in middle school, where I learned the basics of mechanical design and programming. My team worked on mission-based challenges that introduced me to sensor integration, logic building, and collaborative teamwork. I advanced to FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC), where I took on more complex responsibilities as the Electrical Lead. I managed motor configurations, wiring, and troubleshooting—gaining a deeper understanding of hardware-software integration and real-time problem solving during competitions.

In high school I started competing at the most advanced level: FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC). Whether as part of school FRC team or recently joined FRC Team Lady Cans, an all-girls robotics team organized by the Girl Scouts of America; working in this empowering environment, I collaborated with like-minded peers to design, build, and program a robot for high-level competitions. I contributed to electrical systems, programming, mechanical design, and strategic planning—strengthening both my technical acumen and team leadership.

Across FLL, FTC, and FRC, I’ve held roles from primary builder and marketing lead to software and electrical contributor, learning how each component—and each team member—is vital to success. These experiences not only sharpened my technical skills but also taught me the importance of empathy, communication, and adaptability.

Ultimately, the synergy between my robotics journey and Shreya’s Atelier’s Art for a Cause reflects my belief in using both technology and creativity to build a more inclusive and compassionate world. Through this dual lens, I’ve learned how to turn ideas into impact—whether through a robot navigating an obstacle course or an artwork raising awareness for a cause close to my heart.
