2022-23 Art Show

Donated $1620 to Austin Pets Alive

In February 2023, as a freshman in high school, I was overjoyed to receive the title of "February Artist" from the Lake Travis Community Library. It was an incredible honor to have my artwork showcased at the library for the entire month, marking my first in-person art show experience. The opportunity left me feeling both humbled and exhilarated, knowing that my creations were being shared with the community in such a meaningful way.

Driven by my passion for giving back, I made the decision to donate 100% of the proceeds from my art show to Safe in Austin (SIA), a non-profit organization dedicated to providing a loving home to animals who have suffered from abuse or neglect. At SIA, these animals play a crucial role in offering healing and hope to individuals facing trauma, at-risk situations, or special needs. Witnessing the profound impact of animals on individuals, especially those with disabilities, hits close to home for me.

My brother Raj, who has a disability, shares a special bond with our pet dog, Bubbles. Their friendship is a source of immense joy and comfort for both of them. Recognizing the transformative power of these relationships, I believe that everyone, regardless of their circumstances, deserves the opportunity to experience the unconditional love of a pet.

Inspired by my brother's happiness and the Healing Hearts Tour I experienced at SIA, I became even more convinced of the organization's ability to provide healing and support to both animals and people in need. Last school year, Art for a Cause proudly donated $1620 to Safe In Austin, contributing to their noble mission of rescuing animals while enriching the lives of individuals with disabilities.

Through my involvement with Safe in Austin and Art for a Cause, I am committed to spreading awareness and advocating for the importance of animal-assisted therapy, as well as ensuring that everyone has the chance to experience the profound joy of animal companionship.

“Thank you, Shreya, for thinking about Safe In Austin and raising funds through the Art-show. You are an exceptional artist and we appreciate your incredible contribution. You are a wonderful example of what we want all young adults to strive to be like. Such a beautiful heart and soul"
